MacGray - "Brick and mortar" (Belgium)

by Aline Magrez

Built with thousands of images from GoogleStreetView, this music video is a frantic digital journey. The song describes the panic attack of a senior executive close to burnout. Through a stream of photos taken by machines and the electric and aggressive rise of the synths, the video and the music expose the sensation of the fear of others.
Everything is accelerating, we’re losing ground, panicking. Finally, a breath, alone.

Invitation (Netherlands)

by Sjoerd Martens

Martens’ sees his work as a sculpture of our legacy. The areas he creates are characterized by past human presence, current abandonedness and future uncertainty. The human traces as still life are brought to a new breathing environment through multi-disciplinarity and atypical narrative techniques. The mise-en-scène forms a post-apocalyptic, semi-surreal microcosm that includes physical and non-physical signs of our mortality. This haven is solely palpable and is comparable to past childhood dreams, or dissociation from one’s environment or self.

Simon Littauer - Hubris (Denmark)

by Ian Isak

Hubris is set in a religious universe, where a televangelist is accompanied by two church servants. It illustrates how preachers have been and are still willing to resort to extreme measures in order to grow and maintain their financial enterprises, at the expense of innocent believers. It was the empathy and devotion of these people – as well as the ways in which a congregation can be duped with absurdities – that fascinated Ian Isak and became the theme for this music video.
