HOLDING ON, LETTING GO (SINGAPORE) BY LIONEL SEAH
Set in a traditional taoist funeral, a teenage girl who has lost her beloved grandmother struggles with resentment that drives her to ultimately question the meaning behind the procession, discovering the truth beneath her father's appearance. Running time: 00:14:30.
THE DAYDREAMERS (U.K.) BY THOMAS RENCKENS
What if you're addicted to your own fantasy? 'The Daydreamers' takes a closer look at Maladaptive Daydreaming, a psychological condition discovered by professor Eli Somer. Protagonists Agatha and Jessica meet Somer on-camera, providing a moving testimony of their experience living a life cut off from reality. Running time: 00:33:00.
THE STATEMENT (BRAZIL) BY AMADEO CANÔNICO
At lunchtime, soldiers of the Military Police occupy the counter of a decadent bar, to eat greasy food without paying the bill. While eating, in addition to talking about their routine of extreme violence in one of the largest cities in the world, they give voice to what is most hidden in the depths of their minds. 'The Statement' reveals what is conscious and unconscious in the cruel, sometimes monstrous, way of acting by Brazilian police, as if the viewer were a psychoanalyst listening to fantasies, guilt, dreams, sins, traumas and the weaknesses of those who, in the name of law and order, are capable of committing the most heinous crimes. Running time: 01:03:53.
