En Vagues .jpeg

En Vagues (Belgium) by Alex Schuurbiers

En Vagues is an associative and volatile memoir of a mystery landscape. A landscape as an evocation of the soul, rugged and torn. A forlorn island smothered by the sea, which draws us towards her turbulent innards. En Vagues is a sensory trip, a dreamlike ebb and flow, lost in time.

Limits (Switzerland) by Simon de Diesbach

In a forest he digitized, Simon runs. Within an autobiographical narrative where the images were entirely captured in the forest of Chaney in Switzerland, running embodies the intimate link between the protagonist and the forest, a forest that has witnessed a multitude of personal events and that is now being destroyed by a gravel pit. Immersed in a fragmented world, Simon questions the reasons that pushed him to 3D scan his forest. He questions his relationship with the living world, with the limits of matter, and with the limits of digital representations of nature."

Cyclepaths (Belgium) by Anton Cla

An old woman is carrying her shopping bags. A child with a gun on his back riding a scooter. Birds are flying. A city is falling. A party is lit. Running time: 00:12:25

Calf (Belgium) by Tuur Oosterlinck

An adolescent became a victim of senseless violence. He arrives home and is confronted by his mother.

Running time: 00:13:17

Prosa (Ukraine) by Kyryl Volovych

Prosa is a sensual poetic story representing an “amalgamation of souls” - expression used to describe a deep emotional, intellectual & spiritual connection between the people. Invisible unity that is reflected in interpersonal behaviour. This bond is not subject to external factors, as it is metaphysical, it can never be destroyed, not in distress, not in grief, nor amidst the war.

Running time: 00:03:14

Bardo (Germany) by Tobias Staab, Gustavo Gomes

In a contourless room, a dancer tries out dying. His writhing body struggles against dark forces. Cut. Another room. Another death. "Bardo" is situated in the intermediate state after dying and before reincarnation. With the film director Tobias Staab and choreographer Gustavo Gomes attempt to approach the thematic complex of death and dance. Between traditional gestures, personal experiences and speculative movement material, dying on the screen is tested, subverted and celebrated in ever new ways.
